My take of the victory of Barack Obama winning the election is something people like you and I can take a part in. November 4th 2008 and Janurary 20th, 2009 will mark the day that an African American is chosen. I didn't live the days of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther Kind Jr. and I Have a Dream speech, abolished slavery, women's rights, the writing of emancipation proclamation and the writing of the U.S. Constitution, man first stepping on the moon, but instead I lived through moments of 2 Iraqi Wars, September 11th, and an economy that created mass panic throughout our nation. I am ready to experience history. History of goodness and values we'll cherish for the rest of our lives! Money for those who serve this country for school, to get a good education, a tax cut to the hard working middle/low class workers, letting go of corrupt CEOs and government, affordable healthcare, affordable education, affordable transportation, no more borrowing money from other countries, a resolution of peace between countries. People we are in for something historic the next four years. It's going to happen over night, but we will witness something will be remember.
I believe it's overhyped that people are talking about an African American being elected to office. But let it be known, we elected an American man to change this country. A man that will raise our spirits and accomplish what is right for all of us. Behind this man, are ideas fresh out of the box and none from lobbyists or advisors, nor from old and failed polices, but from the people like you and I. People like us who experience hardships and survival. Surviving by trying to get a good education or a good job by working late and spending an extra hour or two out of our time making sure we'll be all right. It's a time of celebration, because there is hope. But I believe partying and celebration are only temporary. We have to look at the big picture and the years ahead of what he'll do. But of what "we will do." But I am proud and inspired of the hard work Mr. Obama is already doing 1 day after the election. While many people are still raving and talking about it, he's already working.
Am I raving too much? Am I going overboard? Am I dreaming? No, this is reality. Whether our world is crumbled and shattered or if it's resolved and peaceful, our lives in this world are temporary. We are simply living in this place before judgement. Before the time has come. But before my time and your time closes, I believe in making and creating a world and my community full of hope and faith. The last 8 years it felt we couldn't. Now We can! And Yes We Can! May God Bless us.
