Wow, it's been a while since I blogged here. ... As expected! I've been so busy working on other things. I've put my priorities in devoting myself to my other blog --> devoted.michaelserna23.com, but I will try and update this blog more as I see fit. ... As expected? heh! We shall see!
I'm working on redesigning my site. I will announce it when it's completed on this blog! So stay tuned!
I'm so busy at times I find myself posting on this blog as the last thing on my "to-do" list. I feel like I only post when I'm not busy. I think I forced myself to not be busy in order to post today. heh. Well with my adjustment to working so early in the morning, 7 am (with a wake-up call of 5:30 am) it's been difficult to find time to blog. At least on this blog I find my daily devotion to be beneficially with my daily walk with God.
There's one thing I've noticed myself sacrifice in my life since the start of the new year. It's playing video games. I have 3 video game systems the Wii, Playstation 3, and the Xbox 360. I do give 200 mins a week playing NBA 2K10. But other than that, that's it. Do I want to play video games? I actually do. But there's just no time for me to do so nowadays. I arrive home from work noticing myself continuing devotional bible studies on my own, tuning in to a Laker game, and practicing web designing/programming standards. ''
The glory days of video games are about over for me. Obtaining knowledge of the word of God and the web is in. Except for tonight ... I force myself to slouch on the coach and write this blog.
At the same time, I hope I don't leave this blog or write twice a month. I hope to write more frequently at least twice a week. Perhaps I'll add it to my to-do list on my iCal.
Today I'm feelin' a bit under the weather leaving me to drop many things today. Thus having time to make a post today. The new year has started out okay for me and with natural disasters going on in Haiti as the focal attention of today's current events.
After focusing so much in the business and project management world last year, I've caught myself being pulled back in to much of the web world once again. A couple of enhancements such as jQuery and CSS has me brain twisted and surprised to see how much my job is getting me involved. Slowly and surely I am going back to becoming a full-time web developer it seems and it isn't what I totally want to do. That's the state of my job right now. It has pulled me out of what I want to be as a PMP (Project Management Professional). It's pulled me out of studying and advancing more into this great need and I'm always wondering if I'll get back into it.
Another thing that didn't quite catch my attention was this year's CES event. So much gadgetry there including upcoming 3D televisions. This isn't all eye-popping to me as I find this to be an excuse of companies selling something "just because televisions can't offer anything anymore."
Lakers: Probably something that's taken me off a little bit of stress. The Lakers are the best team in the league right now even with a battered team that consists of injuries of nearly half their team. Kobe is a fierce competitor who physically can be a liability to the team because with his bad back and fingers. But his presence in the team makes them all the better.
God: Where could I be without God? With more hardships and challenges comes the calling of God. I've been experiencing multitudes of stress with headaches and sleepiness. (Part of it has to do with the need of new prescription glasses) But I hope God can give me the strength and courage I need to conquer my days ahead of me. Don't forget to check out my Devotional blog here.
While this year proved to be a challenge for me with reaping the benefits of its rewards, I have come to know (realize) the importance of life and how to approach it as I've grown a year older. A couple things that I have obtain and will never throw away are:
God's will and keeping His relationship | devotional time with the Lord (I love you Lord, thank you)
An importance to family
The trials experienced over the summer with unemployment
A leading role in my new job
A MBA degree in Project Management (and graduate certificate in PM too)
Keeping relationships worth having; leaving behind past relationships that hinder you from doing what you have to do.
Sometimes when you reach down deep in yourself and look what the good Lord has really done in our lives, it is with our sincere hearts that we must give thanks. May not only be this day to give thanks and give, but let this be something we experience everyday. Below is a song my church hasn't sang for a while but whenever I do hear it, I appreciate the melody and kindness of what this song brings to my heart. I thank God for all the great upcomings in my life, but I ESPECIALLY thank God for all the shortcomings, the failures, the trials, and a couple of hard times. "All things work for good."
"Give thanks with a grateful heart Give thanks unto the Holy One Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son Give thanks with a grateful heart Give thanks unto the Holy One Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son"
And now let the weak say, "I am strong" Let the poor say, "I am rich Because of what the Lord has done for us" And now let the weak say, "I am strong" Let the poor say, "I am rich Because of what the Lord has done for us"
"O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker."
Had a fun-filled weekend with camping with the church crew. I needed some timeout away from all the electronics and computers that surround me almost every day of my life. Thank you Lord and thank you church crew for the time well spent. Should me how wonderful God and mother nature is and I'll never forget it. Now time to get ready for the week ahead.
A blessed weekend it was. A lot of productivity that took place last Saturday in which my skills were utilized to its potential. Talking to clients, gaining an honest and earned income, and then reaching out to the community was a great experience. With now the work week just starting up, I get more of a sense of how things are being operated and occupied by people around the city.
Are you willing to plan for the future - and are yo willing to work diligently to accomplish the plans that you have made? The Book of Proverbs (21:5) teaches that the plans of hardworking people (like you) are rewarded.
If you desire to reap a bountiful harvest from life, you must plan for the future while entrusting the final outcome to God. Then, you must do your part to make the future better (by working dutifully), while acknowledging the sovereignty of God's hands over all affairs, including your own.
